If you know me, you know I loooove TV. I'm a serious reality show junkie. American Idol, Project Runway, Kardashians... you name it, I probably watch it... well, not Jersey Shore. I can't stand that crap. Anyway, my DVR is chock full of the stuff.
But I do try to strike a balance, there are a select few scripted shows that I enjoy. Currently, my two favorites are Modern Family and Law & Order: SVU (can I get a 'hell ya'?). I'm always super impatient for fall to come around - there are only so many SVU marathons to keep a girl satisfied! This time around, I'm a bit conflicted. I'm excited for my shows to come back, but I'm sad because I've read so many news stories about casting changes! womp womp. That pretty much kills a show.
First, let's talk about Modern Family. Funniest. Show. EVER. If you don't know the show, then stop reading this blog. You should climb out from under your rock and go to abc.com so you can understand what I'm talking about.
I've read that super adorable, stone-faced Baby Lily is being recast. Whyyyy? Lily's mellow-ness (is that a word?) is what made her hilarious, especially with such high-strung dads. Apparently, production is planning on making her a little older, maybe 3 or 4, so that she's talking a bit and adding more dimension to the show. I guess this may not be such a terrible idea. TV tends to magically age babies to make them a bigger part of the show. I'll be optimistic and wait to judge until a few episodes pass.
Now. Let's talk about SVU. I am so not happy about this. My Stabler is leaving (can I get a 'hell nah'?)! Chris Meloni decided to not sign on for the 13th season. To make matters worse, Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson) asked for reduced hours (oh, heeeeell nah!). Don't get me wrong, I love Munch & Finn too, but it's not SVU without Benson and Stabler. They better have some tricks up their sleeves, because I don't know how this is going to work. I don't mind a little change... but this is just ridic. Good thing the writing on Law & Order: Los Angeles is getting better..?
Maybe I'll just stick to the garbage on E!
